Happy New Year everyone. I hope your 2016 was great and hope your 2017 is even better. Our next beginner’s class will be in the Spring.

Don’t forget to e-mail me any club activities.

Christmas in Converse held on December 3rd from 4 to 8 was a blast. Our 4 foot tree with hand carved ornaments we donated to the event sold for $100.00.

We are still continuing to work on Comfort Birds. Thanks again to all who have been helping us with getting these birds cut out and carved.

Our Carry-in and Live Auction was a ball as always.

Bob & Linda Courtney are our newest Life-Members.

Dues are $10.00 + $1.00 per each family and remember. Due in December.

Your Ol’ carvin’ buddy, Gary

2016 Club Election

Our election of Officers kept all in their same position. The election for Board of Directors kept Ben Cash and Bob Freeman on for another three years and added a new member, Bill Taylor. All Board members will get their feet wet at our March meeting.

from the Kitchen of Donna Anderson

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
4 Tbls butter, melted
1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries

Preheat oven to 375.  Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a mixing bowl.  In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk; then add the melted butter.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the milk mixture, stirring with fork just until dry ingredients are moistened.  Fold in blueberries.  Spoon batter into 12 buttered
3 inch muffin tins, filling each 2/3’s full.
Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean.

Serve immediately or allow to cool.  Muffins may be frozen.  To reheat, wrap in foil and place in a preheated 400 degree oven for 5 minutes.

The Hylestad was a stave church located in Hylestad,  Setesdal district, Norway. The church was estimated to have been built in the late 12th to early 13th century and was demolished in the 17th century. Some of the intricate wood carvings from the church doorway were saved and incorporated into other buildings. They are now on display at the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo. The carvings show several scenes from the legend of Sigurd Fåvnesbane.
