Carvers Corner
(Or Gary’s Gossip Column)

We had the CCA Competition on August 19th and a number of our carvers got ribbons. Steve Fowler got a yellow and Dick Belcher and Charlie”6 dolla’ Charlie” Cooke got blues. Any ribbon in this competition is great.

The CCA Seminar held on August 21st, 22nd & 23rd were wonderful again. We did have lots of help this year.

We are still continuing to work on Comfort Birds. Thanks to all who have been helping us with getting these birds cut out and carved. Raintree Carvers and a couple of other carvers dropped off some birds for the cause. It is really appreciated.

Dues are $10.00 + $1.00 per each family member. Always due in December so now they are late.

Late September or early October the 3rd floor windows will be replaced along with the six windows on the front on the 2nd floor.

Your Ol’ carvin’ buddy,
Gary

Turning the Corner

OK well we have stayed busier than usual UPSTAIRS. Jim has himself a new student lady turner and Dave has help somewhat with a couple flute projects. Jim has had a few of his pieces in the State Fair. One I am most familiar with is an unbelievable Table lamp.

Again I would remind you of the magazines and books we have so far in our humble library. It is located UP Stairs in our turning room.

Also to say it is limited only to one’s imagination what could be turned on the lathe then add the carving .

Thanks from the Cook

I would like to personally thank everyone who helped with the CCA seminar. Without your help it would not have gone as smoothly as it did.  Thanks to Julie, Jeff, Linda, Bob, Susan, Fran, Joe, Suzi, Becky, Gary, Joan, Bruce and I hope I did not miss anyone. Thank you to the CCA members who come and teach, and come to help, we are very thankful for your knowledge and generosity. Can’t wait till next year, Aug. 19, 20 and 21st, 2016.
