Dick has been teaching carving for over thirty years and been on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati for 25 years, teaching carving to the students in the wood shop, as well as having classes in his shop.   He teaches six classes a week and has had students ranging in age from 13 to 99 years of age.    He sharpens tools for customers across the country, averaging over 3,000 tools a year.  For a beginning student, the first class is devoted to sharpening.

Dick will begin the seminar with a hands-on demonstration of the procedure to use various stones and strops to hand-sharpen knives and gouges.   Bring along your knives and gouges with which you are having problems and learn how to put a proper edge on them.

He will follow with a demonstration of using three power tools for quick and easy sharpening.   He will discuss the pros and cons of power sharpening machines on the market.

If you have questions prior to the seminar about what you should bring, you can call him at (937) 845-0346.

If you have questions about getting on the list call Suzi Brown (765) 243-9149 or Gary Freeman (765) 251-3663.

A deposit of $25.00 will hold your spot.
