Christmas Dinner Theater Salad

From the Kitchen of Pam David


1 Head chopped Lettuce 2 T. butter

1 C. sliced strawberries 1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 C. Almonds, sliced 3/4 tsp. salt

1/2 C. sugar


Heat almonds, sugar, butter, and salt in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook 15 min., stirring constantly until almonds are toasted and sugar is golden brown (this can burn easily I have found, so watch it carefully). Stir in vanilla. Cool. Place lettuce in serving bowl with strawberries and almonds on top.


Poppy Seed Dressing


1/2 C. Mayonnaise 1/4 Milk

1/3 C. Sugar 2 T. Vine-gar

1 T. Poppy Seeds


Combine mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and milk. Blend well, add poppy seeds and blend again. When ready to serve pour poppy seed dressing on and mix well.
