Christmas Dinner Theater Salad

From the Kitchen of Pam David

1 Head chopped Lettuce 2 T. butter

1 C. sliced strawberries 1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 C. Almonds, sliced 3/4 tsp. salt

1/2 C. sugar

Heat almonds, sugar, butter, and salt in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook 15 min., stirring constantly until almonds are toasted and sugar is golden brown (this can burn easily I have found, so watch it carefully). Stir in vanilla. Cool. Place lettuce in serving bowl with strawberries and almonds on top.

Poppy Seed Dressing

1/2 C. Mayonnaise 1/4 Milk

1/3 C. Sugar 2 T. Vine-gar

1 T. Poppy Seeds

Combine mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and milk. Blend well, add poppy seeds and blend again. When ready to serve pour poppy seed dressing on and mix well.

Carver’s Corner
(Or Gary’s gossip Column)

Seems like ages since we have been able to be at the carving club. Christmas & New Year’s Day had it closed for two weeks then we were there for the Monthly Club Meeting then some super cold weather caused us to miss the next week.

The Basket Class and Open Carve on January 26 was well attended. We enjoyed catching up on everything we’d missed in the New Year. The food was, as usual, just great.

Dues are $10.00 + $1.00 per each family member and are payable in December. If you need to know if you are up to date just ask at the club or e-mail me.

Your ol’ carvin’ buddy, Gary

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,600 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.
